About Pathwise

Pathwise Counseling offers high quality clinical supervision services to new professionals in the Northern Metro and Rural regions of Colorado and surrounding areas.

Pathwise Counseling serves mental health professionals seeking Colorado licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC), as well as those needing clinical supervision to pursue CAC certifications.

All clinical supervision services are delivered according to an individualized professional development plan crafted collaboratively with the supervision client and tailored to meet the supervisee’s learning style, skills & knowledge base and level of professional development.

Pathwise Counseling follows all regulations, practice laws and ethical standards.

Clinical supervision services adhere to DORA (Department of Regulatory Agencies) standards and Addiction Counselor Certification and Licensure Rules (Rev 09-01-10) as the highest standard.

Theoretical Orientation in Clinical Supervision

Pathwise Counseling follows Developmental Models of supervision, adhering to the knowledge that clinicians have different points in their individual career development and different roles throughout their career. Additionally, Pathwise Counseling’s approach is that clinicians advance through different stages of professional development throughout their career in terms of skills/knowledge level, self-awareness and eventually becoming more independent from the supervision process with increased confidence and experience. Pathwise Counseling encourages growth toward a collaborative supervision style from a student-teacher style that enhances self-awareness and self-direction. Specific supervision methods will meet the supervisee where they are at developmentally.

Evaluation is a critical part of the learning process in clinical supervision and focuses on progress made on a supervisee’s professional development plan goals and assessment of core skill & competency areas as defined by licensure boards.  Evaluation of the supervisor’s effectiveness in providing clinical supervision services also occurs.

Individual Clinical Supervision

Individual supervision sessions are a required and the primary form of supervision needed for licensure in Colorado. Individual supervision sessions entail meeting one-to-one with the clinical supervisor addressing professional development goals and progress, as well as the processing of internal dynamics which surface during the course of being a psychotherapy service provider. Supervision sessions aim to explore these processes to increase self-awareness and effectiveness as a clinician. Case conceptualization also occurs during individual supervision sessions with guidance provided to ensure best possible ethical care of a supervisee’s clients and clinical skill building.

Group Clinical Supervision

Group supervision sessions are not a required component of supervision needed for licensure in Colorado. However, group supervision sessions enhance a supervisee’s clinical supervision experience through opportunity to learn from one’s peer group, share experiences and engage in multi-clinician case conceptualization, while also still receiving guidance and processing with the clinical supervisor.
